FAITH TALK

with Danny Dodd

“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations” (Psalm 89:1). Thank you for joining us to sing God’s praises and to worship him in “spirit and truth.” Your presence is always our blessing and joy.

It is a blessing and joy to welcome new folks to our church family. Today we are delighted to welcome Scott and Larken Record and Josie Crosby. They bring energy and joy with them to Levy. Please be sure to personally greet them and welcome them. Again, we need everyone involved in welcoming to ensure our new members feel at home and make connections. We are all family!

As a church grows it is imperative that we all intentionally reach outside of our circle to welcome new members. As a family it is also vital for us to keep our connections to not-so-new members—to encourage them and let them know how much we need them as well. This is family being family to everyone.

I am excited to announce that soon we will have a new addition to our ministry staff! Cecil May III and his wife, Patti, will be joining us in early October. Cecil’s role will be as Connecting Minister and he will be working to involve and connect people in our adult education ministry, hospitability ministry, in our Sunday night worship at the building and also serving as a staff liaison to our Senior Saints ministry. Cecil has been serving the Parkway Church of Christ in Fulton, KY as preaching minister for the last 23 years. Patti is an experienced elementary school teacher. Both are excited about becoming a part of the Levy family. Cecil is an old friend who will bring both energy and dedicated leadership to his role. Please pray for them, their transition and for his work with us.

Next up for us to bring our ministry staff back to full strength is finding a good fit for our Family Life Minister role. The focus of this role will be our small groups, young adults, congregational encouragement ministry and our college age ministry. Ideally we are seeking a younger man. Please be praying that God will lead us to just the right person.

Our speaker this week for our summer series (Wednesday, August 22) is Les Ferguson, Jr. who preaches for the Oxford, MS Church of Christ. He is also the author of a new book, “Still Wrestling.” Les is an old friend who has been with us before. His topic is “A Groaning Confidence!” Hope you can be here!

Don’t forget that next Sunday, August 26, is our Blessings of the Backpack. This is a wonderful ministry and a great moment each year for us. It is not too late to be a Backpack Buddy. See Sierra Gustafson.

I love you church!
