FAITH TALK

with Danny Dodd

“I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him as I rejoice in the Lord” (Psalm 104:33-34). Excellent thoughts for us to consider as we gather to worship God! We are singing and rejoicing in the Lord as his people. I pray that our meditations will be pleasing in his sight. Your participation in this is greatly appreciated. Thanks for making praise a part of your summer Sundays!

Have you been to the BOB (building out back) lately? Two of our small groups have not only completely redone the Family Promise rooms, but also have cleaned up other areas in it. Several people have been involved in this project–and thanks go to all! The BOB continues to be used in numerous ways including as an emergency homeless shelter in the winter; to host unsheltered families in partnership with the Family Promise ministry (we will be hosting families this week); and for our monthly pantry ministry.

These service projects demonstrate one way our small groups can be wonderfully utilized. Small groups can be about more than just fellowship and devotionals. They also can be about outreach and service.

What are you doing on Wednesday nights this summer? Don’t forget that we meet each week at 7 p.m. In addition to our special summer series, we have a class in the Upper Room on developing family devotionals and the singing class continues. We also have classes for all ages in our youth and children’s ministry. Please don’t neglect Wednesday nights!

Our summer series speaker this week (June 26) is Shannon Cooper. He is a long-time youth minister with the Central congregation in Little Rock. His topic is “Live in Harmony with One Another.” It is a great topic and Shannon will bless us with his presentation out of Romans 12:16 & 1 Peter 3:8. Plan to join us.

Several Levites have expressed to me how much they enjoy and appreciate the streaming of our Sunday services. It keeps them in touch with home when they are away–and summer is a major away time. I appreciate our tech team who make all of this happen–and not just streaming, but also everything else IT. Thank you!

This week–call on a brother or sister who you have not seen in a while and encourage them. Invite someone to join you in worship. Think about the others this week.

I love you church!
