When Church Becomes Family

When Church Becomes Family

FAITH TALK
with Danny Dodd

“ I will exalt you, my God and King; I will praise your name for ever and ever” (Psalm 145:1). Have you ever thought about our worship time together as an extension of all of the praise of generations past? Our history is filled with a rich and powerful tradition of worship. It is in our historical spiritual DNA. Worship has always been and will always be a primary definitive mark of those who follow God. It is not something to be taken lightly. I am so thankful that we put all of our heart into praise at Levy and thankful for your participation in it. “My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever” (Psalm 145:21).

We welcome back to Levy our brother Casey Rine. Casey served as youth minister here for several years. He, along with Danny Sullivan, will share with us this morning, “When Church Becomes Family,” as Casey reflects on his continuing journey ten years after the death of his sister. Everyone please warmly welcome Casey back to Levy.

Today is also a day for new folks at Levy. If you would like to know more about our church family, then join Cecil May in the Learning Levy class at 9 a.m. in the Family Room within the Ministry Center. Also for all who have recently been added to our family, please stay after worship and enjoy our Welcome luncheon. It is a great opportunity to get to better know Levy leadership.

Are you plugged into a Bible Class? We have a great selection of exciting classes for all ages this quarter on both Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings! I am grateful for all of our teachers who put much time and effort into blessing us.

Dates to save: Sunday, March 31, Levy staff will be sharing, “Stories Beyond the Numbers” during Bible class in the auditorium about Levy ministries and the people they touch—all because of your generosity. Sunday, April 14, is our annual Friend Day. Never too soon to be in prayer and to start inviting our friends.

God has called us all to be salt and light to the others around us. Specifically as his “chosen people” we are tasked to “declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (See 1 Peter 2:9-10). This may seem too difficult, but in fact it can be as simple as sharing with others how God has blessed us. Be light this week. Give God the chance to work through you to help others come to know his compassion and grace.

I love you church!
