It is the Sunday before Christmas and all through the church we are praising God our Father for the wondrous gifts he freely gives to us. Gifts in the form of Christ our Savior, sent for the specific purpose of saving us from our sins; Gifts in the form of the Holy Spirit, who indwells and guides; Gifts in the form of the church—God’s community in which we find acceptance and support; Gifts in the form of our talents and abilities—God designed to enable us to share his grace and love with others; Gifts in the form of our assembling together encouraging one another in songs and praise. It is the Sunday before Christmas and I am excited to worship God with you. Thank you for your presence.
Isaiah (9:56-7) foretold the incarnation of Christ:
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”
The birth of Jesus was just the beginning of God’s story being lived and told in the flesh. From the manger to the cross to the resurrection to the right hand of God—we have much for which to honor and thank our God.
Don’t forget to join us this Wednesday night (December 26) at 6:00. Joe Chesser will be leading us in a special devotional period. After that we will have the opportunity to enjoy warm fellowship with special treats in the atrium. Added into this schedule is a very special Christmas surprise! Hope to see you here!
Looking beyond the holidays into next year. Mark these dates down: Sunday, January 6—Congregational Encouragement Luncheon. Sunday, January 27, Celebration of Life; Friday and Saturday, February 1-2, ReConnect Couples Retreat. (More information on this retreat is inside this bulletin including instructions on how to register online—which can be done anytime).
My family and I feel so blessed to be a part of the Levy family. Thank you for your continued encouragement and support of my ministry. Please continue to pray for us as we pray for you. I remain excited about what God has in store for Levy!
I love you church and wish you all a warm and blessed Christmas.
