Remember The Sabbath

FAITH TALK
with Danny Dodd

Are you excited? It is worship day! It is Sunday when we have the wonderful opportunity to worship God together as his family! I am glad you are here. Your presence is encouraging and appreciated. It is a great day to be at Levy!

It is one week until Friend Day! We get the privilege of hosting our friends next Sunday, April 14! This is awesome—guests are coming over to visit! This week please pray daily; personally invite your friends; encourage others to do the same; commit to stay for potluck (remember—the potluck is not about us, it is about hosting our friends); and work to make this the best Friend Day ever! Why not? God can do more than we can ask or imagine.

Recently Colton and Canon Brymer were baptized into Christ by their dad, Chad. We rejoice over their rebirth! These brothers are now brothers in Christ! Please pray for them and their family and welcome them into God’s family.

Baptism is a significant part of our journey with Christ. Scripture frames it as our own type of death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4) in which believers fully embrace the grace of God that saves (Roman 2:8-9), have our sins washed away (Acts 22:16), become “clothed” with Christ (Galatians 3:27), and consciously commit to follow Jesus (1 Peter 3:21)—among other things. If you have not been baptized, I encourage you to consider God’s teaching on it, see its significance, and be born again and of the water and the spirit!

Do you know that the church is a living organism in numerous ways? Do you know that at Levy we are made up of many moving parts? This is normal for a body (see 1 Corinthians 12:12-25). As a result we have a wide spectrum of gifts, involvement levels, needs, strengths, weaknesses, ministries, outlooks, etc. We have folks at all stages of life; all stages of spiritual maturity; all stages of growth. As with any body, ours needs proper nourishment, encouragement, and building up. This is why it is so vital to be about the business of “encouraging one another daily” (Hebrews 3:13). Be sure to look around and notice who is not here today. Give them an encouraging word this week. Look around and see who is here. Let them know you appreciate them. We need each other. God designed this community for us to enjoy relationship with one another through our common bond in Jesus. We are in this body together by the grace of God. Let’s appreciate the blessing of church, even as we work together to strengthen our weaknesses and grow more like Christ together.

It is Sully Sunday! Our brother, teacher, coach and elder Danny Sullivan is proclaiming the message this morning. I pray we will be attentive listeners to the good words he will share.

Have a productive week in the Lord inviting your friends to worship with us next Sunday!

I love you church!
