Wow! Are you as excited as I am about the opportunity to worship God together today? It is both a privilege and a blessing. God created his community, in part, for just what we will do this morning—be encouraged together through praise. Thank you for joining us. Your commitment to being here is a great testimony to your love for God. Let’s get excited!
I am always excited to introduce new faces to Levy! Everyone please welcome Conner and Lauren Whitfield. We are delighted to welcome this young couple to our church family—although Lauren is not a new face. She is the daughter of Chuck and Kathy Holland. Please personally greet them and welcome them to Levy.
We are scheduled to host an unsheltered family during the week of September 23rd though the Family Promise program. Mark Deal is the contact person for this outreach. If you would like to assist during this week, please see him. This is a wonderful opportunity to show God’s grace to others.
Sunday, October 7, kicks off Harvest Month, which means our month-long celebration and focus on missions. October 7 also happens to be the first Sunday for our new connecting minister, Cecil May III and his wife, Patti. We have planned for them a meet-and-greet reception immediately after worship in our lobby that morning. Please make this a priority Sunday if at all possible. Also be praying for both the Mays and for our Harvest Month activities.
There are special mission’s presentations all during our Harvest Month—with a class in our auditorium each Sunday along with a special worship speaker on Harvest Sunday, October 28. (Note to adult class teachers—dismissing your class is optional). Here is the schedule:
• October 7—Levy missions presentation
• October 14- Mark Brazile from Mission Resource Network
• October 21—Greg Sublett from Silver City church and Keith Lappe from River City church
• October 28—Daniel Napier, who will work with refugees in Greece
As I often mention—look around and notice who may not be here today. Then make a commitment to contact them and let them know they were missed. It is a small gesture but one that can make huge differences.
