FAITH TALK
with Danny DoddThank you for joining us for worship! Your presence is our blessing. What a wonderful joy it is for us to praise God together.
It is Memorial Day Weekend—a holiday in which our country remembers the sacrifices of those who gave their life in service of our nation. They paid the ultimate price for our freedom. So fittingly we remember and honor them yearly at this time in our country.
Of course, I cannot help but think about the sacrifice of God’s son for people of all nations. He paid the ultimate price for our freedom from sin and death. Fittingly we honor and remember him weekly as we commune together as his body, the church.
We rejoice in welcoming new members, George and Janice Johnson, to Levy. Please be sure to meet them and personally welcome them to our church family. We are certainly blessed through them joining us in pursing kingdom work here! Pray for them also.
We also welcome our summer interns today. Working in our youth ministry are Marlie Prince from Jacksonville, AR, Laken Reddell from Jonesboro (both served here last summer), and Ethan Terral from West Monroe, LA. Working with our children’s ministry is Sarah Griffith from Monroe, LA (she is the sister of Rachel Griffith). Please welcome them and pray for their time together with us to be productive for all.
Our Wednesday night summer series is on the horizon. It kicks off on Wednesday, June 5 with our dear friend Garry Neal. Our theme for the series is “One Another” and Garry will speak on “Be Devoted to One Another in Love.” Make this special series a part of your summer!
Another summer series—my preaching focus on Sundays—will be about “Navigating Culture.” I will address various challenges our culture presents us as disciples of Jesus and how we can relate to the others as we navigate. This begins on Sunday, June 9, Lord willing.
Classes and other activities are underway for our returning college students. We certainly want them engaged and involved while home. On Wednesday nights Brad Hardin will be leading the class and on Sundays it will be Joe Chesser.
Have a great week in the Lord. I love you church!
