FAITH TALK

with Danny Dodd

I’ve got the joy, joy, joy down in my heart! It is time to worship God together with you! And the church says, “Amen!” Thank you for prioritizing worship and joining us to praise our great God. Your presence is an encouraging blessing!

Blessings of the Backpacks! This is a now a tremendous Levy tradition. Today our school age children and teens are partnered with their “backpack buddy”—an adult who will be praying for, encouraging, and developing a relationship with a child all during the 2018-2019 school year. Yes, someone at Levy will be praying for our kids as they navigate the challenges, joys, and tests of the classroom! Thanks to every backpack buddy. You will make a difference in the life of a school kid this year.

I appreciate Scott Aldridge (along with everyone assisting him) in leading our efforts to minister to veterans. It is another example of Levy becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.

We have other active ministries that serve our neighborhood too—such as our pantry ministry, Ridgeroad School ministry, and our community-building ministry. Thanks to all involved in keeping these ministries current and effective.

Next weekend (the Labor Day holiday weekend) our teens will attend the Refresh Retreat. This is a pretty big deal gathering of several youth groups from area congregations. It is wonderful to see this kind of fellowship and family forming from among our teens in central Arkansas.

We wrap up our Wednesday night summer series this week (August 29) with our old friend, Leon Barnes, speaking. Leon continues to serve well the Central church in Little Rock. His topic is “ He Prepared us for This.” Be sure to be here this Wednesday night!

From our Bible reading last week: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:9-10).

Have a great week doing good in the name of Christ to everyone you encounter.

I love you church!
